Bar Hopping @ Eugene
Rapunzel looked around, up, down, and everywhere as they made their way into the bar. It was large and very brightly lit, and it was full of people. People of all shapes and sizes - men, women, adults and elders, fat people and skinny people and tall people and short people, and people with accents she’d never heard before.
“This is so exciting,” she said to Eugene as he helped her onto a bar stool. She didn’t know where to focus on her attention, there was so much going on, so many conversations to overhear, so many objects being tossed around. ”You used to come to something like this every night? How can you stand the boring castle now?”
-once she was on her bar stool he pulled out one for himself and slid onto it. rapunzel was wide-eyed and excited. he loved how the simple things in life got her so excited.- this gets old pretty quick, babe. different people doing the same stuff. it is more fun though if you’re not here alone. we’ll have a good time.
-he glanced over to a guy on the other side of rapunzel a few stools down. he was looking her over in a drunken stupor- you already have an admirer too, baby. -on flynn’s other side was a drunk woman and a very drunk man trying to make sexual arrangements and they were being just slightly too loud about it. everyone within 15 feet could hear them bickering. flynn chuckled softly under his breath- want a beer, sweetheart? a small one…
Rapunzel nodded with enthusiasm, excited to try beer. She’d only had wine and hard cider before, but she’d heard so much about beer. She let Eugene order for her, since there were so many different bottles and taps and she didn’t even know where to start. When she was given a small-ish glass with cool bubbly amber liquid, she cupped her hands around it with a smile. ”Is it fizzy?”
She leaned closer to Eugene to speak low to him. ”I have an admirer? And… is that couple next to you really arguing about who gets to be on top once they go upstairs?”
yes, that guy on your right is checking out out. -he changed the topic to her beer- just take a little sip, okay? go slow…..and have some…uh… -he reached over the bar, grabbed a bowl of shelled peanuts and set them before her- and eat those too, okay? that’ll help you from getting completely fall off your seat drunk. you need some food on your stomach. -he fussed over her a bit more- it’ll be a little bitter, baby. -he got a pint for himself and took swig- yes they are…and i have no idea why we all need to know about it. her name is beatrice and she’s into dominating men. and before you ask, no, i don’t know from experience. -laughs-
She smiled. ”Then how do you know?”
She looked at her beer, watching the bubbles a little longer, then lifted it and took a ‘swing’ herself. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t exactly tasty, either. ”I don’t know about this…” she said, wrinkling her nose. ”It tastes kind of the way pee smells. Is there pee in this?”
She munched a handful of peanuts and took a glance at the man to her right - who had several empty glasses in front of him and was swaying on his seat as he looked her over. He looked like a man who’d consumed far too much pee-flavored beverage.
